1. Fall 2019 enrollment projection discussion

Tim and Kristen discussed opportunities to bring manufacturing and other credit and non-credit training to partners outside of Oneida County. What micro-credentials would work? How can it be made more convenient for employers and students (remove barriers like certificate of residence)? How to support more isolated areas such as in Lewis County?

It was noted that several certificates and degrees are being deactivated. They were generally very low enrollment and no longer made sense to lead to employment.

There has been a decrease in Cybersecurity after several years of increasing enrollment. CJ has also gone down.

What are the trends in NYC enrollment? How competitive will the market be moving forward with upstate 2 and 4 year colleges all looking downstate to keep their housing and classes enrolled? What if some institutions close or they close housing? We continue to rely on dual credit to pull us up by several percent points to get closer to our target.

2. Next steps

Question for Matt: What does HS graduation number in Oneida county look like and how does it correlate to the size of our incoming class?
At our next meeting we should review any additional graphs and trend lines from Matt. Jen can prepare a draft of our projection memo for review at the meeting.

Next meeting: Friday, March 8, 1:00-1:50 pm.
