2. Online Enrollment

We reviewed data presented by Matt about MVCC online enrollment compared to some CUNY CC peers. There was discussion about how to turn conversations on this topic over the past few years into a timely EMC recommendation. There was a question about whether our online courses are appearing on Open SUNY as they should. The group discussed what could be done to capture online enrollment market share at this late date, and the answer seems to be targeted programs and specific partnerships, as well as areas where students could gain access and flexibility that we don’t have with on campus. Our list includes:
  • to support retention and completion, keeping financial aid and timely graduation
  • staggered term classes and late start offerings (short length courses, even gen eds)

New enrollment

  • medical technician AAS (Syracuse for med techs but could be expanded to the company’s employees in Albany, NJ, FL)
  • Lewis county. They have funding, want residents to have access to education and skills training for jobs. Could fit for Business Admins or other AAS/AS program. Could include some physical presence to provide connection and support
  • Think about targeted programs where we have expertise or relationships in the region, rather than general online education where the space is crowded.

Jen will draft a recommendation based on the above for review at the next meeting.

Next meeting: Friday, May 3rd, 1:00-1:50 pm.
