Accreditation is the primary means of assuring both a high quality program and a systematic evaluation leading to its improvement. Since 1960, Mohawk Valley Community College has enjoyed accreditation by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, 3624 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104 (Telephone: 267-284-5000, website: www.msche.org). The Middle States Commission on Higher Education is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. The MSCHE Mission, Principles, and Strategic Goals and Objectives, along with procedures and a list of accredited institutions, can be found on the Commission website at www.msche.org.

MSCHE publishes on its website a Statement of Accreditation Status for each institution detailing the current accreditation status, scope of accreditation, and a brief history of actions that have been taken by the Commission. MVCC's Statement of Accreditation Status can be found at http://www.msche.org/Documents/SAS/299 Statement%20of%20Accreditation%20Status.htm

Accreditation Liaison Officer

Each college selects an individual to act as the institution's Accreditation Liaison Officer (AL0) to be the primary contact with MSCHE. The ALO is expected to maintain contact with the MSCHE Vice President staff liaison and to respond promptly to any correspondence from the Commission. Several times a year MSCHE publishes an email ALO newsletter containing specific information and the ALO is expected to keep the college updated on accreditation issues.

The current ALO at MVCC is Jill Z. Heintz, Executive Assistant to the President and Secretary to the Board of Trustees,
jheintz at mvcc.edu.
